Chew On This: Foie gras for PETA people

Are you one of those people who protest against the cruelty of foie gras production? Here's your chance to indulge without hurting birds and win some money. PETA is holding a competition to produce a wholely vegetarian foie gras. The winners gets $10,000. Glad to know they value foie gras that highly.

Personally, I'm never one for substitutes. If you want to drink sodas and yet lose weight, ditch soda drinking. Don't fiddle about with drinks filled with sugar substitutes of debatable value and safety. And if you don't approve of meat, eating a copy in flavor and texture made with tofu or nuts seems to me a bit of a have-my-meat-and-eat-too ideology swindle.

And if you're worried about the comfort of birds, make a fuss about battery chickens which we consume by the millions daily before you fuss about a luxury food bought in very limited quantity.

Still, it's nice to know with this effort to find a decent replacement that the PETA people do get the point of foie gras...
