The smell of rotten eggs could be the clue to an alternative Viagra. Apparently the hydrogen sulphide in the gas helps relax nerve cells in the penis, stimulates the blood flow and creates an erection.

The science team from the University of Naples, in the country that gave us Casanova, says the study could lead to an alternative to Viagra. If the smell of rotten eggs doesn't work, hydrogen sulphide is also found in car exhaust fumes.

This raises the classic British picnic to a whole new level of possibilities. I spent my youth eating stinky egg sandwiches inside a car whose engine was running because the picnic field outside was battered by rain.
