Co Co. Sala - Three-course chocolate

Washington now has its own chocolate lounge, Co Co Sala in Penn Quarter. Personally, I've had my very own chocolate lounge for years. It's the sofa in front of the TV. But it's good to dress up to go out specifically for chocolate.

Co Co. Sala is an 130-seat restaurant and cocktail lounge that's all about chocolate. Restaurant? I hear you ask. Yes, indeedy. This is where you can come for your Trio of Sliders of spicy Moroccan swordfish, sirloin burger stuffed with blue cheese and tandoori spiced chicken. With chocolate? No, sweetie. Though chocolate and coffee might be the secret ingredient in some of the entrees, this is food that has been designed to go well with chocolate - the chocolate in your chocolate martini that might begin your meal and the chocolate dessert you have at the end of it.

Actually, chocolate could easily be your entire meal. There are five-course chocolate dessert tastings on the evening menu, starting at $25. Who needs protein. Big occasion coming up? Executive pastry chef Santosh Tiptur and pastry artist Nisha Sidhu, will even construct you your very own chocolate sculpture. Or package you some chocolates and chocolate pastries to take home.

Though only dinner and late service are offered to begin with, breakfast and lunch will be added soon. Meanwhile, you can have coffee, chocolate and cocktails at any time.

Co Co. Sala is located at 929 F Street, NW, 202 347 4265.
