European Delight*

There's been a name change, along with a change in management, at European Bazaar, the source for Russian produce on the Rockville Pike. It's now called European Delight. Nothing else has changed - if anything, there's more. The choice of charcuterie in the meat counter is remarkable, from head cheese to a huge range of salamis, keilbasa, moskovskaya and other sausages. And the selection of smoked and dried fish is also good, with different smoked salmons, sturgeon, smelts, selyodka and whitefish prominent.

There are prepared salads, and dishes to heat up at home, like meatballs, and borscht, or one of their different pierogi. Their fresh golubski - stuffed cabbage rolls - and dumplings, pelmeni, vareniki and blinchiki are made locally. Add a slice or two from one of their strudels and there's dinner. If you are looking for Russian cheese and yoghurt products like ryazanka, prostokvasha and tvorog, here is where you'll find them. And there's even a range of Russian and Lithuanian beers. Deliveries come down from New York three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
