Filipino Home Baking & Grocery

Triangle Lane in Wheaton is an international food court in itself. One of the little markets tucked away is Filipino Home Baking & Grocery. It's a modest place with a very small selection of fresh produce. But it's filled with groceries essential to Filipino cooking.

There are salted shrimp fry in jars, dried taro leaves, roasted rice, corn starch noodles, palabok and golden bihan noodles and more. In the freezer cabinets are individual ingredients like grated cassava. But there's also a wide choice of home-made ready-cooked meals in foil trays, like pork menudo and pancit palabok, as well as pork lumpia and 'Ube Macapuno' twirl ice-cream. Eat that with the 'Ube' purple yam-flavored cookies.

Just ask any of the shoppers around you for advice if you're confused about what to do with what's on sale - they're so helpful.
