Guinness on tap

Ten years ago, you'd have been hard pressed to find Guinness on tap. Now you can get it at pretty much any downtown brewhouse. Away from the center of town you'll find it, and sometimes Murphy's on tap, at a number of Irish pubs in the area:

Ireland's Four Provinces, 3412 Connecticut Ave NW, 202 244 0860, Kelly's Irish Times, 14 F St NW, 202 543 5433, Nanny O'Brien's, 3319 Connecticut Ave NW, 202 686 9189, Ireland's Four Courts, 2051 Wilson Blvd. Arlington, 703 525 3600, Kitty O'Shea's at 2403 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, 703 522 5295, The Irish Inn At Glen Echo, 6119 Tulane Ave, Glen Echo, MD, 301 229 6600, The Dubliner Restaurant and Pub, 520 N Capitol St NW, 202 737 3773, The Star & Shamrock, a combination of Jewish and Irish (think Leopold Bloom in James Joyce's Ulysses?) at 1341 H St NE, 202 388 3833, to name a few.

When Celtic football games are playing, you can quaff it while watching them on television from Scotland at Flanagan's Irish Pub in Bethesda at 7637 Old Georgetown Rd, 301 986 1007.

The Royal Mile Pub, 2407 Price Ave, Wheaton,301 946 4511, is a Scottish "theme" pub with a very good beer selection and an outstanding collection of malt scotch. It also serves pub fare.
