Lontong

Strictly speaking, Indonesian satay is served not with toast points but with cubes of lontong, compressed rice, cooked in a rectangular banana leaf package similar to this photograph.

To make Lontong, the cold compressed cubes of rice that go with authentic Indonesian sate, simmer boil-in-the-bag rice for 1 1/2 hours and cool overnight before opening and slicing.

In Indonesia, banana leaves packed around the rice make the dish, not boil-in-the-bag rice! If you want to do it their way, Philippine banana leaves can be found at Todos Market, 14450 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Woodbridge, 703 490 4907, and frozen at Americana Grocery (see the MD and VA phone books for its several branches).
