Paak Bangla Bazaar

Par-boiled basmati rice was only one of the intriguing ingredients on sale at the small Pakistani-Bangladeshi bazaar in Falls Church. Jars of jaggary contain the unrefined crude brown sugar that comes from the sap of the East India jaggery palm. What you might know better as 'palm sugar.' It's a key ingredient in some vegetarian curries and has a slightly fermented back taste.

In the little store's frozen cabinets are fish, puri, paratha, roti and other breads. There's also fresh naan on sale, and a butcher working with halal meats - one of them fresh goat brain.
