Pork meats & cured sausages
Pork is central to much Northern European cooking. German butchers in Baltimore are a magnet to those seeking out supplies of smoked meats and good pork sausages.
Kassler, smoked pork chops, sausages and liverwurst are sold at Binkert, 8805 Philadelphia Rd, 410 687 5959.
Wonderful Polish sausage, kielbasi and other Polish foods can be bought at Ostrowski's in Baltimore. They don't sell it through other outlets so you must go direct, to 524 S. Washington St, Baltimore, 410 327 8935, and don't confuse this Ostrowski's with Ostrowski Food Market at 1801 Bank St, Baltimore. Pulaski Meats (see Polish delis in NJ) in Linden, NJ, makes a good Polish sausage.
The German Gourmet, 7185 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, 703 543 1908, sells fresh Nuernberger bratwurst and German sausage.
For an Argentinian smoked sausage, go to El Chaparral Meat Market, 2719 Wilson Blvd, Arlington 703 276 8337.
