Redline - G St NW's latest venture

It's always interesting to see what happens next on G St NW. This time, at the old FLY Lounge it's a new concept in draw your own draft beers and gastrolounge food.

If you get to one of eight booths on the first floor at Redline, almost opposite the National Portrait Gallery, you'll find your table equipped with a 'Personal Table Tap' system. It's instant beer on draft for those who can't wait for wait service, though that is offered with bottled beers as the evening goes on.

Mosey along upstairs and you'll find a gastrolounge that can seat a cast of hundreds (140+), cooked for by executive chef Fabrice Reymond. Since I've listed the menu for Reserve on L, here's some of what Redline offers:

Tuna Tartar Spring Rolls marinated with mustard oil, sesame oil, and shallots; Slider Trio with Mini Beef Burgers, Pork Barbecue, and Crab Cakes; Fried Calamari and Zucchini topped with basil, spicy tomato sauce and lemon.  Sandwiches include a Tuna Burger; and a "DC Kobe Dog" made from Wagyu beef.  Featured entrees include Peruvian-Style Roast Chicken with plantain mashed potatoes; Eggplant and Heirloom Tomato Lasagna; and Hanger Steak marinated with rosemary, thyme, oregano and extra virgin oil, and pizzas from a stone pizza oven.

Redline, 707 G St NW, 202 543 1724.
