Richard Brandenburg - new chef at Cafe Atlantico

When I went to interview Richard Brandenburg for the NorthWest Current at Urbana where he was then chef, I found him so good-looking I couldn't decipher my shorthand when I got back to the office. I haven't added a photo so you have an incentive to check him out yourselves.

But there are other reasons to go check to Cafe Atlantico which he has just joined as Head Chef. I just have to take a deep stabilizing breath to remember what they are...

Oh, yes: he's stopping by the Penn Quarter farmers' market every Thursday to pick up produce for a three-course meal that Cafe Atlantico will offer on Friday evenings until the late fall. This 'Farmers' Market Dinner' will cost $45 (without wine, tax, tip). Go and check him - I mean the dinner - out.

Cafe Atlantico, 405 8th  Street, NW, 202 393 0812.

    And no photo? ;)

You're SO right. Okay: I could try to justify its miserable absence by saying it's a devious attempt to get you to go to Cafe Atlantico to take a live peek. But the truth is, I wrecked my own jpeg (part of the dazzlement, maybe) and asked the PR for another - but never heard back...
