Speculoos

Speculoos are Belgian cookies, sometimes described in the U.S. as speculaas - thin, golden brown, slightly cinnamon-tasting cookies, popular too with the Dutch and Flemish.

Their crisp buttery snap goes well with a good cup of coffee, which is when they're served in Brussels and elsewhere in the Netherlands.

They're imported by Vietnam Imports, 922 West Broad St, Falls Church, 703 534 9441, along with all the necessary ingredients for making rijstafel, a feast of different dishes to eat with rice that Dutch colonials popularized in Indonesia. You'll also find them at IKEA.
