Supermarkets bring the farm in

Matt Fuchs emailed me about a story on his blog Fuchs Foodie on supermarkets bringing the farm onto their land. It's a great idea that will benefit shoppers if it spreads. Take a look.

Whole Foods, for instance, has turned a plot close to its Short Pump store's door into a vegetable garden that it hopes will eventually supply the Virginia-located branch with around 10,000 pounds of fresh produce a year.

Gives new meaning to 'from farm to store' and cuts down on that gas-driven travel.
