Thanksgiving is a holiday. So why should you cook if you don't want to. These restaurants will do it for you.
Cafe du Parc @ The Willard InterContinental, 1401 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, 202 942 7000, is doing it the French way, if you want a break from the norm. What it's calling Le Jour de l'Action de Grace menu offers Creme de Potiron, Feuillete de Comte; Dinde Roti, Puree de Patate Douce, Marron, Jus de Volaille au Huckleberry; Gateau Sable au Pommes, Glace Canelle. Which is basically your traditional feast.
Two-time James Beard-Award winning Chef Art Smith and Executive Chef Ryan Morgan will offer diners a traditional Thanksgiving meal on November 27 at Art and Soul in The Liasion, 415 New Jersey Ave NW -- complete with "left-overs" for a take-home dinner to continue the feast the next day.
Get complimentary smoked turkey tastings ahead of Thanksgiving lunch time at all four Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company locations, with turkey cooking tips, from November 6. If you want a whole smoked turkey for the day, order one by 11 a.m. November 25. Whole turkeys to feed between 8 and 16 guzzlers, plus two quarts of side dishes range between $59.99 - $99.99, or portions from $4.99 a pound.
Ardeo, 3111 Connecticut Ave NW - 3-course dinner prepared by newly appointed Executive Chef Alex McWilliams, serving roasted pumpkin soup with candied pumpkin seeds and ginger crème, roasted milk fed pig with savoy cabbage, heirloom apple puree and young carrots and roasted turkey with chestnut stuffing, mashed potatoes and dried cranberry gravy. $40 a head, lunch and dinner. 202 244 6750.
701 at 701 Pennsylvania Ave NW, adds a jazz trio to the menu, cooked by Executive Chef Bobby Varua, priced at $42 a head, including butter braised turkey breast with stuffed turkey leg lollipop, sweet chestnut ravioli and duck foie gras and black truffle meatloaf. 202 393 0701.
Go Indian at Rasika, 633 D Street, NW. Chef Vikram Sunderam is adding a special at $16: turkey stew made with coconut milk, seasonal vegetables and flavored with curry leaves, ginger and green chilies, along with his usual menu. 202 6371222.
The Bombay Club, 815 Connecticut Ave NW, has a $16 Thanksgiving Day special, too: Chef Nilesh Singhvi will prepare Tandoori Turkey, boneless chunks of white meat, marinated with yogurt, ginger, garlic and fenugreek leaves. 202 659 3727.
At The Oval Room, 800 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Chef Tony Conte is preparing a three-course holiday menu, $50 a head, with butternut squash soup, Asian pear, chives and coffee; roasted organic turkey with chestnut stuffing and sweet potato puree and pork tenderloin with Brussel sprouts, pickled pearl onions and mushroom vinaigrette. 202 463 8700.
CommonWealth, Jamie Leeds' British-inspired gastropub, is offering a special family-style Thanksgiving roast featuring a three-course menu at $25 a head. Naturally fed roast turkey with cranberry sauce, or roast beef with shallot port jus, mashed potatoes, baked sweet potatoes, collard greens, green bean casserole, and two kinds of stuffing. 1789 Restaurant in Georgetown is offering a $54 fixed price three-course Thanksgiving menu, which includes a choice of soup or salad, turkey with all of the trimmings, and a seasonal pie sampler by Chef Olson accompanied by coffee or tea. 202 965 1789.
